If you are a food fanatic , then you must definitely be familiar Jiggs Karla. His name is well known in the food world notably for his tremendous work in introducing Indian Cuisine to the international Audience. Masala Library is one of the leading results of his instrumental work.
Located in the commercial complex of BKC, Masala Library is the complete work of art in terms of the ambience they have set and the food that they serve. The place has an aura of its own, also because of heart warming welcome by their staff . The backdrop of the outlet was really classy and enthralling along with their menu which is incredibly interesting thanks to the age old Indian recipes that they have introduced thus taking you over a wonderful culinary journey.
Serving both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian cuisines with separately designed menus, at Masala Library traditional Indian dishes , particularly of North Indian and South India cuisines including street food inspired dishes, are combined with modern day cooking techniques and presentation letting you gorge over some of the finest dishes ever made. The taste and authenticity of the dishes are marvelous . There were some dishes that had in them an element of surprise adding credits to this wonderful culinary experience. We opted for the Non-Vegetarian Menu which included an array of dishes.
We were first served with the basic ‘Bun Maska’ and Amuse-bouche meaning mouth-amuser which a small savory course which was basically to ‘amuse’ our palate before we could start off. This was the first time we had tried something like this and might I add we couldn’t get over the picture perfect presentation and of course its taste.
Steamed Patrani Machhi, Lemon coriander shorba and chukka endamame. The fish was succulent and tasty and the shorba , though spicy was quite flavorful. Something really different and unique to try out! The Rasam in it totally enhanced it’s flavor.
We had Murg Malai Tikka served to us for starters and I must say I was speechless. The taste just wouldn’t get off my taste buds . I personally loved this one dish where the chicken was soft and well complemented with malai. I would Highly Recommend it to everyone who visits Masala Library.
Prawns and Asparagus Thayir Sadam had a tangy and sweet flavor and we thoroughly enjoyed the dish.
Tandoor Chicken San Marzano Makhani was a tummy filling and finger lickin’ good dish. The Butter chicken was complimented with traditional Indian roti . Great quantity and amazing presentation.
Pan seared Rawas is another main course dish to try out. You cant stop enjoying the lovely and soft fish that totally melts on your palate. The gravy was great even in terms of quantity. This dish can be savored along with the Indian rotis . The much awaited part of the meal were the desserts :
Jalebi Cavier, as huge as the dish looks, it might deceive you into thinking it isn’t . Well this by far is one of the best desserts I have ever come across. The presentation clearly spoke of the modern culinary technique used wherein the Jalebi placed in a bed of Rabdi was presented with Saffron foam. Served in an open sea shell, this vibrant dish will totally sweep you off your feet right from the moment you have your first bite.
Chai Ice cream was admirably toothsome. To all the chai lovers out here, if you’ve had a bad chai ice cream experience elsewhere, Masala Library is where you will fall in love with it all over again. The masala foam went perfectly well with the flavor of the dessert. The dish also had some mini laddoos that were mind blowing.
The Paan Cotton Candy , we finally had was mouth refreshing. Never have I ever come across such creativity and needless to say it was beyond impressive.
To sum it all up, our day at Masala Library was no less than a journey filled with excitement. Dish after dish just kept building up our excitement . The staff made sure to brief us up about every single dish they served so a huge round of appreciation for that. Lastly , but the most important of all , hats off to the Chef without whom our meal wouldn’t have been all so memorable. The place carries a very lovely ambience and is definitely a must visit!
